Deccan Odyssey Tour Itinerary
Travel on Deccan Odyssey is more than a royal train journey. It is a classic odyssey to explore the cultural heritage of Maharashtra and Goa. Explore the destinations Sindhudurg, Goa, Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Wardha, Ajanta and Ellora while traveling on this royal train of India. Each city is a repository of culture and art. Enjoy beach safari at Tarkali beach and Goa beaches. Also a jungle safari in the Taboda-Andheri Wildlife Reserve waits for you.
Day 01 : Wednesday - Mumbai
On arrival at Mumbai airport our representative will welcome you and escort you to a hotel for freshen up. If you arrive in the morning you can enjoy a sightseeing tour in Mumbai. Mumbai, the dream city of India is an agglomeration of seven islands located along the shore of Arabian Sea.
In the evening proceed to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station. Board the train and receive the warm welcome of the staff. Deccan Odyssey will depart to Sindhudurg.
Drink and dine wrapped up in luxury.

Day 02 : Thursday - Sindhudurg the Ocean Fort - Tarkarli Beach - Dhamapur
In the morning Deccan Odyssey will arrive at the Sindhudurg Nagari Railway station. Breakfast on board. Then all the group of the travelers will be taken to Malvan Jetty by AC bus. Board a boat to cruise towards Sindhudurg, the Ocean Fort & erstwhile naval base of Maratha Empire.
Standing on a rocky island Sindhudurg Fort tells the brave stories related to the King Shivaji who built the fort in 1664-67 AD. This Ocean Fort covers an area of 48 acres and one of the well preserved forts of the Marathas. The architecture of the fort is worth viewing and is considered as engineering marvel of the Maratha artisans.
After exploring the fort, all will return to the boat jetty and then the group will proceed to Tarkarli Beach situated at the confluence of the Arabian Sea and Karli River. The rest of the time is at leisure at the beach.
After lunch, you will be taken to Dhamapur village by bus. Enroute visit the Cashew factory and upon arrival at Dhamapur explore the ancient temple of Goddess Bhagawati and Bharadi Devi located on banks of beautiful lake. Then proceed to Kudal Railway Station to board the train. Dinner on board.

Day 03 : Friday - Goa
In the morning Deccan Odyssey India Train will arrive at Karmali railway station located in north Goa. After breakfast on board, the entire group will be taken to Old Goa by AC coach. Old Goa houses the Portuguese heritage as Goa was a Portuguese colony till 1961. Explore the ruins of St. Augustine Church once largest cathedral in Goa, Basilica of Bom Jesus where the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier is preserved here, Se Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assissi which is an archaeological museum for Goan antiques.
Then depart to Verne Railway Station to board the train. Have lunch at the restaurant of the train. In the evening proceed to Goa beach hotel to enjoy evening at the rocking
beaches of Goa. Explore the Goa beach culture and savor traditional cuisine.
Return back and the board the train at Madgaon railway station.

Day 04 : Saturday - Kolhapur
Morning the train will arrive at Kolhapur City, once a princely state. Post breakfast; proceed to the New Palace, a royal palace which has been partly converted into a museum. The museum houses the furniture, weapons, costumes and photographs of His Highness Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj.
Also tour Bhavani Mandap and Mahalaxmi Temple. At last visit the Shalini Palace and enjoy cultural programmes and martial arts. You can shop jewellery, leather sandals and Kolhapuri chappals, saris, etc at the shopping arcade of the heritage hotel.
Return back to the train and have lunch. The rest of the time is at leisure. You can experience a spa massage on board. Then Dinner onboard.

Day 05 : Sunday - Daulatabad - Ellora Caves
Morning arrival at Daulatabad station. Post breakfast set out journey on an ac coach to majestic fort of Daulatabad which is located 600 ft above the Deccan plain. Once the fort was known as Devgiri and head quarters of the powerful Yadava rulers. Mohammed bin Tughlak, the Sultan of Delhi invaded the fort and made it his capital renaming it as Daulatabad, or City of Fortune.
Next proceed to Ellora Caves which draws millions of tourists from all over the world. The 34 caves of Ellora have the sculpture of three religions-Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The caves date back to 5th to 11th century. The major excavation is the magnificent Kailasa Temple (Cave 16), the largest monolithic structure in the world.
After lunch, explore the Bibi-ka-Maqbara built by Prince Azam Shah, son of Emperor as a tribute to his mother Rabia Durrani. It is a replica of Taj Mahal and hence known as poor man’s Taj. Then you can shop at the markets of Aurangabad. Evening board the train from Aurangabad railway station. Dinner on board.

Day 06 : Monday - Chandrapur (Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary) Wardha (Sevagram)
On the sixth day of Deccan Odyssey India train tour, the train will arrive at Chandrapur Railway station. After breakfast, proceed to the Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary by a jeep. Now the sanctuary is known as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. Jungle safari at the park. The main attractions are royal Bengal tiger and Sambar, Gaur, Chinkara, Leopard cat, Pangolin, Panther, Spotted deer, Sloth bear, Chausinga, Nilgai, Barking deer, Indian bison, Wild dog, Hyena, Jackals, etc. It is also home to migratory and resident birds.
Return back to the train. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, Deccan Odyssey will reach the Wardha Railway Station. Proceed by Bus to Sevagram. A Gandhian way of life is seen in the Sevagram village. In the later years Gandhiji made this village his home and several important political decisions were taken place here. Explore the Gandhi’s Ashram in Sevagram, a National Institution. Explore the Adi Nivas (First Residence), Prayer Ground, Bapu Kuti, Ba Kuti, Gandhiji's Secretariat, Bapu's Kitchen, Akhari Niwas (Last Abode) and
Gandhiji's Exhibits.
Evening return on Deccan Odyssey. Dinner on board.

Day 07 : Tuesday - Ajanta - Nashik
Arrival at Bhusawal railway station. Post breakfast board the luxury coach to reach the World Heritage Site, Ajanta Caves.
The Buddhist caves of Ajanta date back to the 2nd century BC. The excavations of the caves prove that Buddhism was flourished in the region before the Common Era. The paintings and sculptures of the rock cut architecture of Ajanta are considered as the masterpieces of Buddhist art and universal pictorial art.
At noon board the train at Jalgaon railway station. Proceed to Nashik. Lunch on board. Reaching Nashik, disembark and board the bus to reach Panchawati Ghat known for Kumbh Mela. Explore the Ghat and visit the Kalaram Temple. The stories of Hindu epic Ramayana is related to Panchawati. It is the site where Rama spent his vanavasa period with wife Sita and brother Laxman. Ravana abducts Sita from Panchawati. There are several temples located in the site. Kalaram temple is one of them which is dedicated to Rama.
Evening board the train at Deolali railway station. Farewell dinner on-board.

Day 08 : Wednesday - Arrival at CST
